these were my first pair of Vans, the Rust colored ones. After buying them I skated in them for about an hour and headed home. At home I noticed that the blue lining fabric on the left shoe seemed stressed (stretched very thin) and was even tearing towards the inner ankle. If this would have happened towards the outside ankle then maybe I could say that it was normal tear, but just the way it looked and the way the material had been sewn on to that left shoe (the right shoe was fine)indicated either shoddy materials, shoddy build, or both. OF course, the next day Wave Riding Vehicles in VA Beach wouldn't take them back and said that Van's wouldn't either, even though I had just purchased the shoes less than 24 hours ago. So I called Vans, emailed pictures of the problem and my recipt and it looks like they are gonna make it right one way or another, but to keep wearing the shoe. Its been a week since that and the laces are shreeding, the suede is totally gone on the side of my front foot, and the soles on both are nearly smooth now. Maybe it was just this pair, but not a good intro to Vans products. At least their cust. service is top notch, to the point that I will give them another shot. Hopefully the next pair are better, cause they look great and are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn, skate or not. I just dont think a skate shoe should fall apart that easily.

It's a great shoe. Has awesome grip, and lasts super long. The only bad thing is the material of the upper is kind of slippery compared to your usual suede.

Comments about Supertuff Suede Half Cab Pro, Men:

I skate in multiple diciplines inculding downhill racing, street, freeride, slalom, etc. These have been the most comfortable, best fitting shoes I have ever stept foot in. The upper material is incredibly durable. I couldnt tear any holes in them doing kick flips, ollies etc. The bottoms have great board feel which is especially awesome fro freeriding, but the one downside is that the bottom also wears kinda quickly. I however think that may be a side effect of having such great board feel.

Comments about Supertuff Suede Half Cab Pro, Men:

I don't usually like the way half-cabs look but these are really simple looking and look good with almost anything. The material is also pretty tough and lasts a long time.

Unfortunately, all the pairs i've had have been defective. There has always been this weird bumpiness in the toe of the right shoe which is extremely uncomfortable after a while. I have had to return 3 pairs which all had similar defects.

The other dissapointment was that the soles don't last as long as the rest of the shoe. Probably would last longer if they were just used for walking around but in three months of infrequent skating the grip under the ball of the foot was pretty worn down.

Vans' customer service was really a great help during the process of trying to find a non-defective pair of these but I don't think I would buy them again if this is what I can expect from the more expensive pro models.
